I was in the kitchen making sandwiches for my work lunch and watching the Pro Bowl when the news broke. I had to take it in a little at a time. Only yesterday LeBron passed him on the all-time NBA scoring list. Bizarre that this would happen now. Thoughts and sympathies for the remaining family, friends and all fans everywhere.

I woke up at Noon and my wife gave me the news. I thought she was kidding and asked her several times if she was hoping she was. I'm not a basketball fan but I am an Angeleno and Kobe was a big part of our city. Such a shame his 13 year old daughter went down in the crash and died too. Best wishes to his wife, Vanessa, and to the rest of the Bryant family, their friends, and the Laker organization.

Life is precious and fragile. Appreciate every day you have and every good thing life has given to you. I have much to be thankful for. I gave my wife a big hug and a kiss and let her know how much I love her.

A February 2020 wrongful death lawsuit was filed by Vanessa in Los Angeles Superior Court against the helicopter company, Island Express Helicopters Inc and the holding company and against the representative or successor to the late pilot Ara Zobayan.
