I'm too lazy to set a usertitle.

Ever since the new board introduced last year I'm having trouble figuring out how the alerting system (the bell icon) works and based on which conditions it selects what to alert me on.
In the settings I selected these Alert options:
Posts in a watched forum (no email)
Replies to a watched thread (no email)
Rest is unchecked.
However the alerts still show only some selected watched threads.
When I check the Watched thread sections it shows me someting like:
Thread #1 updated 5min ago
Thread #2 updated 15min ago
Thread #3 updated 45min ago
etc
But the Alert (show all) will only make a selection to show for example Thread #3 updated 45min ago.
I have no clue what criteria it is using to make the selection.
Anyone know and wanna share?
